Old Navy Shorts

Before meeting my best friend/nutritionist/lunch date this afternoon I took a quick swing by Old Navy. As soon as I walked in I spotted these Cut-Off Denim Bermuda shorts. I tried them on in the white and the fit wasn't bad at all, and white denim Bermudas aren't the easiest thing to wear. They are currently on sale from $24.50 to $20.

Alive @ 5

As far as I'm concerned Stamford only has 3 things to offer... Napa &Co., Katie's Gourmet, and Alive @5. Thankfully summer is almost here and I've got the line up.

June 25 - Smash Mouth

July 2 - Gilby Clarke of Guns N' Roses

July 9 - Better than Ezra

July 16 - Tonic

July 23 - Josh Gracin of American Idol

July 30 - Bo Bice American Idol

August 6 - Sugar Ray

All shows are free and start at 5... hence the name... but you already knew that.

Prince Peter Collection

Prince Peter is the newly launched contemporary clothing line collaboration of d.j. Peter Prince and graphic artist Louis Liu. Since this is their first collection they have only released 7 designs, all of which I love. I am particularly fond of "love child" though, since I actually am a love child. I can't wait to get my hands on this and rock it with a pair of ripped up boyfriend jeans. Oh, how I love this summer's trends.

k.t.c. uncut.

Samantha Ronson + The Chainsmokers

Do we think Lindsanity will crash this... or is she still in Hawaii? And can we talk about the open tequila bar? Dangerously amazing.

China town bus NO MORE!

I had to put this picture up. This is me making the best out of a horrible bus ride Spring of 2007, en route NYC to Baltimore. Please note that the men in this photograph are complete strangers, otherwise known that evening as my new bff crew. Standard.

Hampton Jitney

I'm cruising the Hampton Jitney website, for obvious reasons, and what did I discover? They run to Boston! Who knew? My standard city to city transportation is usually that "cheap China town bus", but now that I know the Jitney is available this changes everything! There is something just so comforting about those big green buses. Round trip only $98. Boston gUrls get ready - I'm hopping the next Jitney up!

Jan Marini Eyelash Conditioner

So I stalk Leven Rambin on twitter, no big deal. She just recently posted this picture of her eyelashes after using Jan Marini's Eyelash Conditioner, you have to admit they look incredible. After seeing this I had to know more. Turns out that Jan Marini is one of the major skin care researcher out there. She also has a long list of celebrities that swear by her products, Leven Rambin being one of them. Have to have your very own .23 oz tube of Jan Marini's Eyelash Conditioner? Well, for only $160 it can be yours! Check it out.

Hills/PAYDAY

PAYDAY pick

I'm on a spending freeze this week. Unfortunately that's being reflected with the one and only PAYDAY pick item. My apologies. But I have faith that this item can stand alone. While this blouse might not look like much in the picture, I am going on the record saying that it might just be my favorite Spring/Summer item so far. Keep in mind I see a TON of Anthro product, so my opinion might be worth something.

Happy Earth Day!

Alice + Olivia for Payless

I haven't seen these in person so I can't vouch for them, but they do look cute on the Payless website. I'm already not crazy about the metal detailing on the ankle strap, but for $38 I think I can overlook it.

Alice + Olivia Jordana Gladiator Platform $38

House of Harlow 1960

House of Harlow 1960 is Nicole Richie's line. Some of it is cute, appropriately priced if nothing else. But what gets me is that she is trying to sell her products on websites like Singer22 and Kitson's online store by using press images of herself while wearing the jewerly. Is that really weird or is it just me? And does she even have a large enough fan base to pull something like that off?

Moroccan Night

In the midst of the down pour last night my Step-Dad and I made our way to Moroccan night at Meera in Stamford. Yup, that's right, Moroccan night. I figured why not? I'm a weekly prisoner of suburbia, why not enjoy it! And I'm happy I did. It was incredible. They have an extensive themed drink menu with everything from Moroccan Mojitos to a Marrakech Express (whatever that is). The food was incredible too. Since by the time I entered I was soaked through, I went with their Harira soup, which was almost like a spicy minestrone. They even had a Moroccan d.j. and belly dancer. If you are a prisoner like me its definitely worth checking out.

Lucky May 2009

I absolutely love this look. I actually love it so much that since I was unable to find it online I went through the trouble of scanning it in. You're welcome! It's no surprise that I like it though, sheer DVF jacket over a plain simple white tank worn with a pair of Jbrands. And all with "bold" gold jewelry. Just put brown hair on this chick and she's basically me.

What she's wearing, even though this look can be recreated for much less:
DVF Iridescent Seersucker Jacket $285
American Apparel Tank $24
Jbrand Low-rise $187
Jenny Bird Snake Chain $110

Toy Watch

I generally don't take to product bashing on k&t, but I just can't help myself tonight. Last March I received a Toy Watch for my birthday. I wore the watch for a few weeks, maybe, and then one day the links just came apart. The watch was replaced and all was well. Since the watch was a summer watch it hasn't been getting much play. Then a couple of weeks ago we "sprang forward" and instead of resetting my standard Tag, I reached for my summer Toy. Then today, after what? just a couple of weeks of wearing, the links came apart again! And its not like I'm rock climbing with this watch on, granted I've been known to get a little aggressive in line at Starbucks, but I am by no means rough with this watch. I am extremely disappointed because I think Toy Watches could be great products at a reasonable price point if they could just get their manufacturing right. You can make up your own mind about this but buyer beware, Toy Watches have a life expectancy of a couple of weeks... if that.

Photography class

Apparently this week I'm kinda missing high school. Ok, who am I kidding? Correction : This week I'm missing high school more than I usually do. I woke up the other morning completely reminiscent of my NCHS photography class days. All I wanted to do was scan some negatives and play with Photoshop... then I realized, I can! So I've decided to recreate my favorite class period in the comfort of all-grown-up home. And here is what I'm buying to do so.

The cheapest version of Adobe Photoshop $89.95 & the most budget negative scanner I could find, Ion $109.49.

Now if only I could shop online for some popcorn chicken and maybe a buttered roll or two.

SALE!

Remember back in January when I said I was in love with this cropped blazer? Well good news! Its on sale from $88 to $39.99. Get it now. I am.

Urban Outfitter's Silence and Noise Cropped Band Jacket

Boyfriend Jeans

Looks like this seasons staple denim is the Boyfriend jean. I love this trend. I personally don't think there is anything sexier than well fitting, kinda slouchy jean with a cute tight white-T. My summer uniform? Now the only question is which brand to go with. It seems as though everyone is doing some variation of the same thing, some better than others. Here are my top 3.

Left to Right:
AG Tomboys $178, Acne Generic Girl Ripped Jean $375, Paige Jimmy Jimmy Boyfriend $189

Side Note: I'm a Jbrand girl, but they totally missed the mark on this one. 2 words, tapered ankles.

Gossip Girl spin-off

Apparently there is some truth to those rumors that were circulating a couple of months back; Yes, there is going to be a Gossip Girl spin-off. Above is the "leaked" poster for the new show, Valley Girls, which will feature Serena's mom Lily as a out of control party girl teen in the 80's. I'm not really into the title, Valley Girls, is as good as they could do?

Either way, Valley Girls premieres May 11th @ 8:00. Set your dvr's.

Summer Cook Book!

I heard a rumor that is supposed to be in the mid-70's all weekend. And once summer hits there is nothing that makes me happier than hanging outside with friends and family, with food and drinks of course. I came across Lazy Days & Beach Blankets last week and it was love at first sight. It magically opened to my personal favorite little starter, figs stuffed with goat cheese wrapper in prosciutto, (see k.t.c. episode 2) and I was sold! Each page is filled with beautiful pictures and simple recipes. I strongly suggest you track it down and start planning your summer menus!

Grey Gardens

Little Edie in happier times vs. more interesting times.

First of all, Grey Gardens, amazing. I'm sure I am not the only person who has been on an all night google hunt for more information about Big and Little Edie. There is something so captivating about their story. I don't know if its the Jackie O. connection, the East Hampton setting, or the time period, but I am obsessed. If you haven't seen it be sure to hit up your HBO on demand.

Coachella

I would give anything to be at Coachella right now. If I read another fb status or twitter update of friends boasting about the 80 degree California weather I think I might just scream. I fully intend on making Coachella happen next year, and since that means its only 365 days away I figure I should start planning my outfits. Apparently this is what people wear to Coachella....I guess its west-coast-hipster-bohemian-grungy-chic.

Daily Candy

Not that anyone I know is actually crazy enough to be getting married, but I thought I should mention that Daily Candy has just launched a new Wedding website. I clicked around it a little bit...because you know, a girl can dream... and its really cute. Its actually everything you would think a Daily Candy wedding website would be. Check it out - but don't get engaged on me just yet!

Grey Gardens

The HBO trailer. Everything HBO touches turns to gold. I don't see this being much different.

Grey Gardens

A while ago my friend Hanny named her incredibly magical artist cottage "Grey Gardens" and its stuck. Now that the HBO film is airing this weekend, and inevitably everyone is going to be referencing Grey Gardens, we are going to have to stop. While I'm frustrated in advance for the over saturation of my favorite cottage nick name, I can not wait to see it. This Saturday at 8 p.m.

Tyler Shields

Tyler Shields is an amazing photographer and director based out of L.A. He is famous for working with celebrities and be able to capture them in really rare and unique ways. He has worked with just about everyone. There is always a humorous side to his work, which I love. Here is a video he shot with Jaimie Alexander and Matt Dallas. Its weird but hot all at the same time. You may be left thinking, what the f?, but at least you are thinking. For more of his work go to: http://www.tylershields.com/

PAYDAY pick

Today isn't a PAYDAY, but it does mark the start of Anthropologie's employee appreciation. For those of you not in the know, it is a fabulous time where employees get everything on super, super, super sale. This only happens a few times a year and needless to say is the highlight of my April. The best way to capitalize on this savings is to go for things that are already on sale, which is why everything on this list is already discounted. I think that these are all great steals with or without the additional discount. Ok. So here we go...

The Spice Market Mill $7.95

Suiting Stripe Bralette $29.95 & Suiting Stripe Tap Shorts $29.95

Levi's Capital E Laguna Skimmer $99.95

Baltzer's Bridle Cardigan $69.95

Window Shades Blouse $39.95

The Surf Lodge

Montauk is my special place. I've made a pilgrimage to Ditch Plains every summer since I was 3 years old. I never leave the house without my Helen Ficalora Montauk daisy necklace being placed prominently around my neck. Montauk, in my heart and in my head, everyday. Last year was the first year in 21 years that I didn't make it out. Not even for a day. Aside for the fact that a piece of me died, I was also left wondering about the opening of The Surf Lodge. I read the articles boasting how great The Surf Lodge was, but then I also saw the creation on anti-Lodge facebook groups by locals. I have to admit, I am on the fence about this one. My two favorite things in life are 1. Montauk 2. Boutique hotels... and the combination of the the 2 should be pure bliss for me. But there is something about Montauk that can't be put into words or represented by vintage posters on the wall. Montauk is not a place, its a mentality, and its definitely NOT the Hamptons. I find peace in knowing that these types of places never last, and the Jitney riders eventually get off a few stops sooner.
But if you are curious as to what the fuss is about The Surf Lodge will begin taking reservations tomorrow April 15th.

See you there.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs

I'm obsessed with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs new album It's Blitz!. I am even more excited about the fact that they are playing July 31 at All Points West. I highly recommend you download the entire album today. If you were to only pick 3 go for Zero, Dull Life, and Soft Shock and then hit repeat.

We've all seen the book, or at least flipped through it at Anthropologie. I love the creepiness created by the anonymity of these post cards. Kim Sunee

I've had this scary realization that this is going to be my last "summer". With graduation looming and the idea of the real world right around the corner, I'm rapidly trying to plan an escape. And while the Italian consulate seems to disagree with me, I intend on spending my summer in Florence. Visa, sch-misa. I'm going. Since all this paper work is currently out of my hands I figured I should turn my efforts towards planning my dining tour... since I plan to go through Italy mouth first. While cruising the internet for other bloggers and fun websites, I figured I would check in with Kim Sunee's blog. As loyal K&T readers are aware, Kim Sunee is one of my favorite authors and bloggers. She is the author of my all time favorite memoir, Trail of Crumbs (the perfect read for anyone who loves food, men, and travel. I happen to love all 3.) So off to KimSunee.com I went and was ecstatic to find an article she had just written for ENTREE magazine, The Flavor of Florence, JACKPOT! It was exactly what I was looking for and I think her blog might be exactly what you are looking for too! Check out her blog and be sure to pick up a copy of Trail of Crumbs.

F21

This past Saturday the girls gathered for a birthday dinner/good-bye party for our friend Lindsey. After we had polished off an unmentionable amount of food we headed upstairs in efforts to help Lin with the rest of her packing for her move to Baltimore. What started out as a completely selfless act by all parties ended up in a feeding frenzy for all of Lindsey's discards. I will admit that I did partake in this activity, making out with 2 cashmere sweaters and a T-shirt with Lin's face on it that I am currently wearing. But what was the most sought after item of the night, that based on its popularity with the group was packed away to Baltimore with Lindsey, never to be seen again? Her Forever 21 Chiffon Ruffle blouse! While the thought of grabbing the top and jetting crossed all of our minds, why end a life long friendship over a blouse that for $17.80 could be all of ours? Since I fully intend on preserving my friendship with Lindsey, I plan on going to Forever tomorrow to pick up one of my very own. And while Baltimore may have taken Lindsey away from me and I am now forced to go to F21 by my lonesome, take comfort in knowing that we have a scheduled conference call for 3 p.m.... which just happens to be the exact time I plan on heading to F21.

Happy Easter!

Hope everyone had a great Easter Sunday! I have yet to come out of my food coma from this all day eat-a-thon. I would go through my menu run down, but I'll keep that to the experts over at Eat and Greet. I will say that after today Easter has become my favorite holiday! I don't know if I'm actually old enough to make a statement like this but... being around a ton of tiny children really puts the joy back into holidays that are based around fictitious characters, ie. the Easter Bunny. Oh, to still believe...

So to what I wore. Well the weather here in the sticks in kinda in a weird place. It was sunny but definitely still 50. But when I saw this Leifsdotter dress I simply had to have it, regardless of the wind chill factor. Plus I jumped at the opportunity to dress down this silk dress with my new super casual Sperry's. Also, please note that my brother actually ended up wearing the $9.99 hot pink H&M polo! Love it. Loving the fact that he is now taller than me? Not so much.

Sperry Top-Siders

It was a perfect, crisp, Connecticut day today and I couldn't help but notice that the first boat is in the water at Compo. This must mean that summer is just around the corner. After doing my routine loop around the beach I drove straight into town to pick up a pair of Sperry Top-Siders. I figured I need to start breaking them in soon, it will be boating and margs at Vivas in no time!

$85 at Plaza too... but if you go in soon they are running a promotion where if you spend over $100 they give you $25 off!

PAYDAY pick

I've been crazy about this dress since the moment it came in. I have yet to see this dress actually look bad on someone. And with Easter being this Sunday I figured it was the perfect Payday pick!

H&M

I'm an F21 girl all the way, but recently the product has really been lacking. I went in there today with hopes of picking up a cute floral blouse for Easter Sunday and surprisingly left empty handed. There were a few kinda cute chiffon tunics that were really too long to be tops but didn't have any lining so couldn't be worn as dresses, and therefore make them a pointless waste of $24.50. Feeling restless and unfulfilled, I went into H&M, something I rarely ever do, really only when I'm with a certain friend who has a certain little addiction to neon flannel in any capacity. I didn't end up purchasing anything for myself (I did pick up a neon pink polo I'm forcing my 16 yr old brother to wear on Easter for $9.99). But while walking around the store today more items caught my eye then ever before. They had a few really cute dresses and jackets, all of which I felt were over priced by $10-$15. I think its worth a look, you might disagree about the price point...and this is coming from the person who really is indifferent towards H&M.

Jetset

I'm ready to go. Anywhere. And its not about what you do, its about how you look doing it.

Wanderlust

I've spent some time in Asia. And I will admit, that while there, the conversation of becoming an expat came up. Numerous times. So I can relate with Elizabeth Kiester's story. Just months ago Elizabeth was a fixture in the New York City fashion scene. Her resume includes editor of Mademoiselle, Seventeen, and Jane, and most recently the creative director at LeSportsac. So then what happened? She went to Cambodia for a 2 week volunteer trip with an NGO, Globe Aware, and never returned. Now she has opened up a shop in Siem Reap, Cambodia in a 1929 French Colonial home where she sells hand made art, local goods, and a clothing collection made and designed by Kiester herself. She has created this whole life there, the entire time continuing to give back to the community by donating a portion of her profits to a NGO in Siem Reap. Sounds like my kind of fabulous fairy tale. And the beauty of all of this is that I was able to attend the Wanderlust trunk show today and meet Kister myself. The product did not disappoint and not a soul left empty handed. Now if only we could get her to open a Wanderlust in NYC.

So, what did I get? This amazing black kimono dress that I intend on living in. This picture does it NO justice.
