Rachel Zoe

This is old news, but just in case you haven't heard yet, Rachel Zoe has announced that she will be launching a clothing line. The line is going to be called "I Die". LOVE IT. "I Die" will include clothing, jewelry, and accessories. And the best part is its going to be cheap. "It will be absolutely, 100% accessible fashion for sure, for everybody. There’s no reason for me to do a luxury-level design. That’s not who I am. I don’t think it’s what people want from me. I think that I would need to give people that fantasy becoming a reality. That’s my job," Zoe said when asked about her line. I personally can't wait. Expectations are high and I'm sure there is going to be a slew of people ready to rip her apart. She and her product better be ready or else it will be "Bananas".

BIRTHDAY

It was my Birthday on Saturday and I had just one simple request, to share a meal and a few libations with great company. Proud to say mission accomplished but the feat leading up was everything but simple. You know how hard it is to pick a restaurant for 15 people in Manhattan? Let me tell you. Its hard. Luckily enough I'm friends with some serious foodies who were able to help me navigate through Menu Pages, Urban Spoon, City Search, Eat and Greet, and countless other restaurant websites. I was looking for a cheap place that had a cool atmosphere and cheap pitchers of drinks... my friend Kiira response to this request... "Yeah, Its called Heaven." But then in a stroke of genius she suggested we have the dinner at Casa Havana, a small Cuban diner in Chelsea, where we had eaten lunch the week before. Perfect. Great food, cheap drinks, and a small Cuban diner... what could be cooler than that? So I called Casa Havana... and here is how the conversation went:

Me. "Hi, Can I make a reservation for 15 people this Saturday at 8:30?"
Casa Havana . "No. Lady. You have wrong place."
Me. "Oh, No. I don't. I was just there. Do you take reservations?"
CH. "Oh. No. Let me call you back"

(NO CALL BACK)

Me. "Hi. I called earlier."
CH. "OH Hi lady. No lady. No."
Me. "Um. Ok. I think there is some confusion. I was just wondering if I could make a reservation for 15 people?"
CH."No. Lady. NO NO NO!"

(Calls to numerous friends expressing my frustration with my inability to actually make a simple reservation. And of course my underlining issues of not being able to stop till I get my way...)

Me. "Hi. Yes. I called earlier. I'm just trying to make a reservation."
CH. "Lady. I told you No Lady. We out by 10. NO Lady NO!"

So at this point I begin to have a complete melt down. It was hard enough trying to agree on a restaurant and now that I have they won't take my calls or my reservations? And why not is the real question? I mean, we are fabulous, why would they not want to have us? Luckily I have friends in all the right places and Casa Havana has caller id. So I enlisted the services of Food Network employee and Eat and Greet blogger Kiira to make the call for me. And what happened? They took the reservation, of course, and in the 15 of us went... completely over dressed mind you. I can't tell if it was the crammed table in the back, the $5 mojitios, or the perfect company, but my birthday dinner was everything I hoped it would be and more. With a little determination and the breaking of a language barrier you can get whatever you want... even a table for 15 people on a Saturday night.

And even though I doubted it at times, I'm happy to report that my heaven does exists. Its at 190 8th ave. with cheap drinks and only the best company.

Perfection.

BIRTHDAY

I turned 24 on Saturday!! YIKES! And with entry into the work force looming I decided it would be wise to purchase a little bag that one day in the near future will double as a brief case/ hold my very complicated life. Bags are my weakness. I love it all. I'm normally a vintage bag kinda girl but you can't argue with a classic Chanel. It was a hard decision, I actually almost went with a YSL, but I'm confident I made the right choice. But with this kind of price tag this is going to be a strictly sober use item... to quote my friend Ashley, "Great. Now I'm going to have to go out with you just to babysit your bag!"

MAD MEN

I haven't been getting much sleep recently. I've been up every night this week till at least 2.am. with a Mr Don Draper. Whoever said that the man in your life can't be a fictitious character that lives in the 1960's was completely WRONG. I came home with the box set of season 1 on Saturday and I am proud to say that as of 2:14 am last night I have completed the season... sigh. I don't know if it was the smoking, the drinking, or the sexy male chauvinists that did it for me, but I can not get enough. This show is going to save AMC... how it didn't end up on HBO is beyond me. If you haven't been watching you need to start. As in get up and set your DVR right now.

(had to put a pict of Don... heart)

Sass & Bide

I think these are incredible. Sass & Bide Zebra Rats leggings. Pair these with a white long sheer top and some killer heels. Done.

Zebra Rats Leggings $230
(who ever named these should be fired)

Bad habits.

TRUE STORY:
For years I've used the same face wash, Clean & Clear daily pore cleanser ( you know, the one with the "micro-scrubbers"). Literally, I have been addicted to this stuff since I was about 12 years old. I've never really had bad skin, never super great, oily combination skin I think is the technical term. And for the past 12 years, twice a day, I have been scrubbing the F out of my skin with this stuff. Then about a month ago I was reading an article (can't remember where) about a girl that her entire life was using the wrong face wash... this girl is ME! First off I shouldn't have been using an exfoliant twice a day. My dermatologist told me this a couple of years ago but it didn't stop me. Second, this Clean and Clear stuff was drying out my skin so much that it was causing my face to produce WAY too much oil to compensate, hence my life time of oily skin. Imagine that. So take this as a cautionary tale girls... Make sure you are using the right face wash! Habits are hard to break. Question your routine. It may do your face some good! So, what am I using now? St.Ives Olive Cleanser and I love it!

Terra Mater Thongs

I'm typically not a fan of cork wedges. I find them tacky and offensive. But these wedges have made a hypocrite out of me. There is just something about them that I simply love. But what would I wear them with? Jeans?... I feel like all my jeans are currently cigarette straight and they wouldn't look right. What about linen pants?... Yup, that could work.

Terra Mater Thongs $158 @ Anthropologie

Gold Michael Kors

I've been in the market for a new watch for quite some time. What I really want is the solid gold men's Cartier Roadster.... I would also love a down payment on a summer cottage in Montauk, needless to say neither of those are options. But you know what is? Michael Kors new Shiny Gold Chronograph for $250. I have yet to see it in person, but based on this picture I think it might be exactly what I'm looking for. For the time being of course.

Heidi Montag

Cruising Twitter, like the true Twitter stalker I've become, and I happened to come across Heidi Montag's Twitter profile. If you care enough to still be watching The Hills then you need to see this. Keep reading till you get to the Jesus* stuff or better yet when she starts quoting scripture. She is either the smartest or dumbest D list celb. Can't quite figure it out.

* Ya, that's right. I bolded Jesus's name. I consider him a celebrity.

Excuses, excuses.

This is where I apologize for my lack of posts and beg for forgiveness. An old friend from Arizona (read:ex) has been in town. In the past 3 days I've consumed countless amounts to wine, champagne, and espresso.... gotten little to no sleep (last night:bed by 5am. up by 9am.)... and been surviving purely on a diet that consists of truffle cheese and french bread. And while by definition this may be my ideal 72 hours, I am now unable to do anything but lay in bed and watch Mad Men season 1. Would you expect anything less from the girl whose namesake is impetuous? I didn't think so. Please forgive me.

Monday DVF

All good things must come to an end. The with season finale of The City also comes the finale of Monday DVF's. Hopefully People's Revolution will showcase some great fashion till the start of season 2 of The City. So here we go. The last Monday DVF of season 1. Whitney was wearing this jacket over a dress, but you could pair it with white jeans or cute white shorts... effortlessly summer chic.

Staedtler Jacket in Black and White $595

btw. My dvr cut off the last 5 mins of the episode. And its not available yet online. fml. Heres to hoping she grabbed her balls and went back in there and chewed Olivia out. At this point who even cares about the Jay plot line, right?

Kiss and Type on i-Tunes

Now not only can you join the K&T facebook group, follow K&T on twitter, but as of this afternoon you can also download the K&T playlist off i-Tunes. You see this branding action I got going on?

I've been pretty obsessed with my newer/newest music purchases... now you will be too. And no. I do not get a kick back from i-Tunes if you guys purchase any of the songs. This was done out of the kindness of my cold- jaded-heart.

Giuseppe Zanotti

Patent black cutout sides. Open toed. Zipper back. Need I say more? Giuseppe Zanotti Cutout Patent Sandals $650.

Chloé

I am obsessed with this clutch. I think its the quintessential night out accessory. Its a perfect white metallic to carry us into Summer. There is an internal coin purse and hand held mirror. There are compartments for everything. Phone, camera, cash. And the price isn't that out of control either. Chloé Let's Party pouch Clutch $345.

PAYDAY pick

This skirt is incredible. Total no brainer for this PAYDAY pick.
Amy Claire's Modern Gallica Skirt $198

Twitter, again.

For the record, I am well aware of the fact that I am a hypocrite. In less than I week I have gone from publicly shunning Twitter to signing up for an account. One of the main issues with having a blog is you have to publicly recognize when you change your mind. Lets follow my progression shall we....

* I diss Twitter, claiming that it makes me "uncomfortable".
* I then came across a link to a ton of celebs with public Twitter accounts... become a little bit more intrigued.
* Posted on K&T my favorite celeb Twitterers....(sp?) See, isn't this Twitter thing fun?
* Then some time around 2am last night, still buzzing off my last venti-bonedry-1sugar-cappuccino, I decided it would be a good idea to claim Kiss and Type on Twitter before someone else does... but not to actual Tweet, of course(again, SP?).
* Now as of 6:34 pm I've actually posted an update on Twitter and become, not only a hypocrite, but a Twitterer.

So now the only question is whether or not I am going to get rid of my Facebook? As much as I love it, I don't think I can have a Facebook, blog, and twitter account.

Dsquared2

Dsquared2 had a little fun during Milan Fashion Week. Their show was styled with accessories like Starbucks drink and Blackberries. Reviews are in and not everyone is liking the "homeless-celebrity chic" look they went for, but I personally think it is amazing. You want your looks to translate from the runway to the sidewalk, and sidewalk style definitely includes a Starbucks cup and a Blackberry - Does it not?

Monday DVF

Deana Dress in Patchwork $325

I really wanted to show a bag to stay consistent with tonight's show, but unfortunately all of DVF's bags are ugly.

A couple of days ago I went on the record saying that I thought Twitter was creepy... but just because I don't want an account myself doesn't mean I can't stalk celebs who do! Found a link to these online... Tina Fey is my hero.

Twitter

Everyone is talking about Twitter recently and answering the question "what are you doing?". Something about Twitter makes me feel really uncomfortable. Sure, we are a generation of voyeurs, but where do we draw the line? I think that's an individual question, for the record I draw mine at Twitter. BUT. For fun I've decided to do a day in the life of Twitter'er. Because, while I won't open a Twitter account, I'm kinda curious what all the fuss is about.

SO HERE YOU HAVE IT:

Um. Not going to the gym. Plan on hitting snooze till at least 8:15. Not before I check my email on my touch.
7:30 am

In line at Starbucks and just realized that the only thing I've had to drink in the past 36 hours is espresso and foam. That can't be good. Hi, Can I get a bone-dry-skim-cappuccino with 1 sugar. Yea. Real sugar. Thanks.
9:27 am

¿Me pregunto si mi blog sacaría si me trasladé a España? Muchacha americana en Barcelona. Beso y tipo con tapas.
11:33am

Alexander McQueen for Target Day
1:19pm

AM = Total disappointment. Walked out empty handed. Almost empty handed. Starbucks.
2:08pm

Eating left over stuffed pepper and watching todays DVR'd View. I wish they just argued the whole hour. There is really no need for guests. All I need are hot topics. Who's with me?
3:49pm

Hanging out with Hanny. Talking about photographers, Montauk, Grey Gardens, and her wonderful creations.
6:25pm

Wishing Balducci's had squash soup. Settling for turkey chili. BTW. Not. Cutting. It.
7:54pm

Loving the FML facebook message chain with the 403 girls.
9:26pm

BLOG BLOG KISS AND TYPE DOT COM BLOG BLOG
10:34pm

Finishing Hot, Flat, and Crowded in bed. The term "petrodictatorship" makes me hot. Good night!
11:47pm

I'm pretty sure that the more interesting your life is, the more interesting your Twitter is. Apparently I'm not that interesting.

Elle Covers

Elle cover drama over. One cover went to subscribers the other was on newsstands. Everybody wins!

Alexander McQueen

It was Alexander McQueen day at Target. Overall, I have to say I was disappointed. First, let me say that I'm not the biggest Alexander McQueen fan. I was more drawn to Target because of the idea of a big name designer doing a line then actually Alexander McQueen. My point being that if you are a large fan of McQueen then you may love it. Hot pink graphic prints and all.

I had seen the look book and knew what I was going for ahead of time. I was looking for the Harness Dress, the Harness swimsuit, and the Zig Zag dress. They had two out of the three at the Target, the Harness swimsuit and the Zig Zag dress... neither in my size... of course. The Harness suit wasn't that cute in person but to their defense they just had the top in stock, so I don't know what the bottom will look like. The Zig Zag dress was actually kinda amazing. Its not THAT cheap though, $69.99.

But at the end of the day its still Target. Target quality but Target prices.

JET BLUE

Jet Blue is running some great deals if you book TODAY! You have to purchase your ticket before midnight tonight. All travel must be between now and April 1. And you have to depart on either a Tuesday or a Wednesday. Totally manageable. They are running some great deals like JFK to the Bahamas $69 one way. I priced it out for a Wednesday-Monday trip with tax and everything and it came to $250. Not bad at all. If you have the flexibility in your schedule then it is definitely worth it.

Elle Covers

There are two Elle covers floating around. I wonder which one they are going to run? My heart would be broken if it wasn't the one with Alba in the DVF jacket. I get that its scripted and not reality. No really. I do.

Monday DVF

Did you watch The City tonight? Here are the shorts that were pulled for the Elle photo shoot; they ended up with the jacket in the same print, which I loved, but I love the shorts more! These shorts are so fun and girlie. They are an outfit in themselves.

Business Casual

I love this trend. It makes you feel like you could put a blazer over just about anything and look put together! Love.

Oliver Green

Oliver Green belts are a great way to accessorize without breaking the bank! (the average price is $30) Their casual style add a decidedly organic/surferesque element to your look. There is cotton webbing on the inside to ensure that they stay tight all day! If you are jeans and t-shirt kinda girl, these belts are a surefire way to take your look to the next level. They look great with flip flops, flats, and boots. I have so many of these belts and wear them all the time! There is a great mix of styles to suit everyone's preferences. Check them out, especially the new 2 inch wide belts with just a little more edge than the usual 1.2 inch belts on www.olivergreenonline.com. And it gets even better... there is free shipping the entire month of March!

Connecticut Cottages & Gardens

I picked up CC&G this past weekend on my way out of Balducci's. Normally I just flipped through it to see Sotheby's aerial views of million dollar properties, but then this design feature caught my eye. This is exactly how I would love to decorate a house. This totally exemplifies my beachy-chic personal style.

I love this kitchen.
But, I would change the lighting fixtures and loose the stools.
So many formal dinning rooms that only see use twice a year. What a waste! This dining room looks welcoming and usable. Not that anyone would leave that kitchen!

Alexander McQueen

I know I said that the Alexander McQueen line was going to be available in Target stores on March 1st, but the date has actually been pushed back to March 4th. It is only going to be available in select stores so be sure to call and check ahead of time.
