Jack & Coke

It is unusual for you to find me with a drink in my hand that doesn't consist of Ketel One Vodka, but every once in awhile I get a craving for a Jack and Coke. If the rumors are true, and Jack Daniel's is really going to make a canned version of Jack and Coke this could be easily be the greatest thing since my discovery of Sparks.

Sorry last weeks PAYDAY pick is a little past due. Better late than never though, right? Fall is officially here and all I want to do is wear tights and dresses. I love the shape of this brown tweed dress. It's perfect for a date, a fall wedding, or throw a cardigan over it and you can wear it to work. The price point is great too. Must be mine.

I'm Obsessed : Genevieve Zipper Sandal

I found love on Refinery29 today. Love is available. Love is on sale. And love is currently in the form of these Loeffler Randall Genevieve Zipper Sandals. Once $475 now reduced to $332.50. Now I just need to move to place where it doesn't snow so I can justify buying them on the first day of fall.

Non-Society : Jordan Reid

Last week Non-Society welcomed their latest member to the life-casting platform, Jordan Reid. What we know so far is that she is 1. a Harvard grad 2. appeared on Law and Order and 3. has been successfully married off by 28 (something only possible by the strongest willed New Yorkers). After a couple of posts and one infamous pre-official-announcement craigslist ad, I am still left wanting more of the "uncommon newlywed" . Here is a transcribed BBM conversation that I had with another Non-Society follower (who will remain nameless) this morning. This will give you insight to what I think of the newest member of the life-blogging team... and the others too.

Me: Check out the new Non-Society contributor.

: Food/decor.

: I saw

: She's cute.

: I like her too.

She's Anthro.

She works there?

No, just the way she dresses and her home decor.

: Yeah, totally. I dig it.

Not really impressed with any of the food posts yet.

: Agreed. But she's like-able. Unlike MARY. Sorryyyyyyyy.

: You know who's really growing on me? Julia.

: The red hair* has been good for her. She's toned down her everything-pink-with-a-lap-dog image.

: Yea. Thanks goodness

: How long do you hard boil eggs for?

: 12 minutes.

*Shortly after this conversation took place Julia dyed her hair black.

Check out this introductory video by Jordon Reid. She has left me asking, "Mary- Meghan who???", this could easily be the Jordan-Julia show. Now get in that kitchen Jordan, and cook up something that can rival Kiss the Cook, and you will have our hearts forever! (or at least our clicks!)

3.1 Phillip Lim

Unfortunately I did not have the press "cred" to be seated front row at the 3.1 Phillip Lim Spring/Summer 2010 that walked Wednesday at 2pm in the tent. I did, however, have just enough "cred" (read:BFF working the door) to be seated front row at 3.1 Phillip Lim show that was hosted Thursday night by American Express. I was so inspired by the collection that I couldn't stop myself from making this video. Sofia Coppola I am not...not yet at least, so be kind and watch with an open mind.

Feel Free: A National Park Celebration in Central Park

When all Hamptons summer shares have ended and the tents are no longer left standing in Bryant Park, what is left for New York City dwellers to do? Free concert in Central Park? Yes, please!

Next week on Wednesday, September 23, The National Parks Conservation Association and PBS will be hosting a free concert to premiere Ken Burn's film "The National Parks : America's Best Idea". Not into parks? Well, here are just a few of the many artists scheduled to perform that night... Gavin DeGraw, Jose Feliciano, Carole King, Counting Crows, and Augustana. ALL FOR FREE! What more could you ask for on a Wednesday night?

Concert starts at 7pm. on the Central Park East Meadow. Be there.

Tory Burch Studded Cuff or ???

Last week I stopped into Tory Burch on Greenwich Ave. with a friend who was pre-ordering a pair of her sold out camo-stretch pants. While in store I fell in love with this gold and black leather studded cuff. The cuff is $225, which is currently out of budget. Below are two other options by Vita, both for a fraction of the cost.

Tory Burch Studded Cuff $225

Vita Combina Triple Black $88

Vita Double Bracelet with Gold Studs $55

Lauren Conrad's line for Kohls

Lauren Conrad launches a line for Kohls and the only things I like are these two t-shirts. The end.

Shop the entire collection on LC Lauren Conrad (Yes, that's the name of the line...a little redundant, don't we think?).

Rachel Zoe for QVC

Snake Embossed Clutch with Removeable Strap - $73

Faux Fur Vest, available in three colors - $79 and currently SOLD OUT!

Double Faced Sequin Clutch with Removable Strap, comes in brown and black - $120

I'm loving these bags! Not crazy about the vest, but can't win them all. With Rachel Zoe on QVC and Carol Brodie on HSN, I've come to the conclusion that all my must see TV is now on home shopping networks. Quickly pick up the rest of both their collections before they are gone for good.

In an effort to compete with the simplicity of Twitter, Facebook has just launched a new version of their site, Facebook-lite. I blindly made the switch without any prior knowledge, apparently I'm a sucker for anything with the word "lite" after it. Well played Facebook, well played. Here are the visible changes...

Left: Facebook Right:Facebook-Lite

All of your personal information is removed when viewing a friends main page. Does this mean I can't do an on-the-spot check to see if a guy is lying about being single or really 20 when he claims to be applying to grad school from my phone instantly? I think so (minus). But, I will gladly trade that creeper quality for the addition of comments listed under my tagged photos on my wall (plus).

This is the way the old home page looked like. Top stories in the middle. Suggested friends in the top right corner. Highlights on the right.

Facebook-Lite just has one top story feed down the center. No highlights. Suggested friends not focal and in the top right corner.

And lastly, the new photo and video layout kinda freaks me out. It's not worse, just different. But like all changes with Facebook, within a week you completely forget what the old FB once looked like and go about your stalker ways.

I currently have tabs to both Facebook and Facebook-Lite open, and I can't seem to figure out which I like more. I like the layout of Facebook-Lite when viewing my own profile, but I think I'm still a fan of Facebook-diesel when creeping on others. What are your thoughts? Facebook message me and let me know. Just kidding. (But I'm really not).

Gossip Girl Style

500 POSTS!

Kiss & Type just crossed the 500 post threshold... clearly I have a lot to say. Thank you so much to everyone who checks in daily, weekly, monthly, whenever! It is really appreciated. There are a lot of exciting things happening and I look forward to growing this site and others to fit the needs of my readers!

(ps. what can I be doing differently, better, or more of? email me!

Gossip Girl is back TONIGHT...but you already knew that.

Quick preview:

As the summer is drawing to a close, Blair and Chuck are madly in love and adjusting to their new "in a relationship" status, breaking all traditional rules of dating as would be expected. Serena returns from her European adventure with many secrets to hide and a complicated relationship with Carter Baizen (guest star Sebastian Stan). Nate returns from his travels with a mysterious brunette, Bree Buckley (guest star JoAnna Garcia) in tow. Rufus, Dan and Jenny spent the summer in the Hamptons, adjusting to the van der Woodsen's glamorous lifestyle surprisingly faster than any of them expected.

Yeah. Sounds AMAZING.

I die...

$10,200 seems like a little much for this gold Torsade bracelet by Hermes, but yet I have never seen a piece of jewelry so perfect, so who am I to judge? Agree?

I've given into the idea that Fall is coming. I hate it, but still I feel it's best to be prepared. I love this Somerset Cape. The price point is great for this coat, only $158, and it is a really heavy tweed. Great quality!

Bergdorf Goodman: BG restaurant at Bergdorf’s will host Isaac Mizrahi, shaking things up with his cabaret act accompanied by the Ben Waltzer Trio. Padma Lakshmi will be cooking at the Men’s store. Alexander Wang will also make a personal appearance.

Lord & Taylor: Patrick McMullan, one the country’s most renowned nightlife photographers will be on hand to meet shoppers and host an exhibit of his work being displayed in the store’s windows. Meet New York City Firefighters featured in one the nation’s most anticipated calendars for 2010!

Rebecca Turbow posted this to her personal facebook page this afternoon with the caption, "Sneak peak RT S/S 10 campaign shoot". I always love her color stories; simplistic, feminine, and translatable to everyday life.
